Writer

Joanna was an English major in college and founded a healthcare communications company where she authored several books and a plethora of healthcare education materials for clinicians, patients, and nursing and allied healthcare students. She closed the company after 20 years, but she still collaborates with healthcare educational publishers as a freelance nurse writer and editor.

Today, Joanna enjoys writing musical lyrics, poetry, screenplays, and blog posts. She is currently developing the Tama’s Adventures in Tarot series of novels about a Native American teenager who uses the divination tool of tarot cards to help her navigate adolescent challenges and find her place in the world. Tama is a Native American word for “thunderbolt” and the protagonist of the series certainly lives up to her namesake. [Coincidentally, TAMA is also a Japanese manufacturer of musical drums.]

And speaking of music, the blog posts on this page are about some of Joanna’s favorite musicians and the life lessons we can learn from their experiences.
